Choosing a driving school means putting your teen’s safety in someone else’s hands, or finally taking the wheel yourself. That’s a lot of trust to hand over, so we passed the mic to the people who have already been through our driver's education program: the students who sat in our classrooms and the parents who watched a nervous beginner grow into a confident driver.
What Do Our Driving Students Keep Coming Back To?
Read enough of our reviews and the same five themes start to jump off the page.
-
Patient, kind instructors. Parents and students describe trainers who show up on time, stay calm, and keep explaining until things click.
-
A lifeline for nervous beginners. One student who was scared to even start driving describes an instructor who figured out what was behind the fear and built a plan to beat it.
-
Permit classes that don't feel like a lecture. Reviewers mention games, real conversation, and stories that made the material stick.
-
Sign-up without the headache. Several families describe enrollment as easy and communication as steady from start to finish.
-
One team from permit to license. Some reviewers walk through the whole road, from the permit class through in-car lessons to the final driving test.
Driving Lesson Reviews Straight From Our Students and Parents
"Phenomenal! Would recommend this school to every new teen driver. Instructors are kind and patient. My son learned so much. Thank you!" — Kristin W, Mesa
Kind and patient is exactly what we're going for. Our trainers act as supportive coaches because a calm teen in the driver's seat learns more than a rattled one.
"Alba was an amazing teacher and I highly recommend her to anyone who is nervous or afraid to start driving. I went from being so nervous and scared to start driving to getting my license and driving everywhere... She makes you feel relaxed..." — Zach M, Fountain Hills
Plenty of new drivers show up to their first lesson with butterflies. This student's one-on-one lessons show what can happen when an instructor takes that fear seriously.
"Treba did a good job and made the class interactive and entertaining. She got the main points across and answered every question we had. She also had great stories to share so we remember." — Alyssa C, Glendale
The permit class has a reputation for being the dull part of driver's ed. In the right hands, it's anything but.
"...My son received his permit the same day he took his class. After receiving his permit, he was able to sign up with an instructor on driving lessons. Frank was absolutely amazing to work with, kept in close communication..." — Danna S, Mesa
The permit is the first hurdle, and we work to make it an easy one: our 6-hour permit class even includes a ride to a nearby third-party MVD office for the written test.
"Samantha, our instructor, was always on time, very knowledgeable, a great teacher and possessed a delightful demeanor! A fun and effective learning experience was provided by Stop and Go!" — Peter H, Mesa
With select packages, the final evaluation happens in the same car, with the same trainer you've been practicing with all along.
"Every step of the process with Stop and Go was seamless! The instructors were phenomenal! 10/10 would recommend!! Extra shout out to Chris, stand-up guy who truly cares about his students!" — Alanna H, Mesa
Seamless is what we aim for with every family, from sign-up to the final lesson.

From Permit to License: How Our Driver's Education Program Works
Our driver's education program is a path, not a pile of classes, and it runs in three steps.
1. Earn Your Instructional Permit
Arizona teens can apply at 15 years and 6 months, and anyone under 18 holds the permit for six months before getting a license. Pick the prep style that fits:
2. Get Behind the Wheel
Real cars, real roads, no simulators. Our in-car driving lessons are one-on-one with an MVD-certified trainer who picks you up from home or school.
-
What you'll practice: freeway and airport driving, downtown Phoenix traffic, lane changes, parking, and three-point turns.
-
What's in the car: dual brakes, GPS tracking, and dual video monitoring inside and out.
-
Who's in the passenger seat: our instructors, many of them former school teachers or law enforcement officers, all fingerprint-checked, MVD-certified, and retrained every year.
And the people behind it all? Stop and Go is owned and operated by teachers with degrees in Traffic Safety Education and Special Education.
3. Finish With the Road Test Evaluation
Our lesson and course packages range from 2.5 to 20 hours of in-car training, each with an insurance certificate. With select packages, your last hour doubles as an evaluation by an MVD-certified tester. Pass it, and you skip the second road test at the MVD.
What Arizona Requires for a Graduated License
-
At least 10 hours of in-car instruction through a state-certified driver's education program, or
-
A parent's log of at least 30 hours of supervised practice, 10 of them at night.
Is Our Driver's Education Program Right for You?
If you're a teen counting down the days to your permit, an adult who has put off driving for years, or someone who just wants a confidence tune-up, you're exactly who we built this program for. Most families start with a permit course, move to in-car lessons once the permit is in hand, and finish with the road test evaluation so their teen can test in a familiar car with a familiar face.
Ready to trade the passenger seat for the driver's seat? Book your first lesson and start becoming the confident driver you want to be.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Stop and Go a good fit for nervous drivers?
Yes. Lessons are one-on-one, and our trainers coach at the student's pace instead of rushing them. Stop and Go is also owned and operated by teachers with degrees in Traffic Safety Education and Special Education.
Can my teen take the road test with Stop and Go instead of at the MVD?
With select packages, yes. The last hour of lessons doubles as an evaluation by an MVD-certified tester, in the same car and with the same trainer your teen has been practicing with. Passing it waives the MVD road test.
Do instructors pick students up for lessons?
Yes. Driving lessons start from home or school, so there's no need to drive your teen to a classroom first.
