Hands-On Learning: The Advantage of In-Car Driving Schools

Obtaining a driver’s license is an exciting life milestone for many young adult and teen drivers, but confidence on the road doesn’t develop overnight. It requires the right blend of guidance, practice, and education. While there are many ways to learn, in-car driving schools provide a combination of hands-on experience and expert instruction that’s hard to replicate.

The Benefits of In-Car Driving Schools

Real-World Experience

There’s no substitute for real, hands-on experience. Driving in a real car, on actual roads, gives you the authentic exposure you need to improve your adaptability and decision-making skills.

Professional Guidance

Reputable in-car driving schools are staffed by experienced and certified instructors. They’re not only experts on the rules of the road but are trained in effective teaching techniques, ensuring you get the best learning experience.

Structured Curriculum

Knowing you’ve learned all the right skills can be difficult without professional guidance. In-car driver’s education courses offer structured lessons designed to cover essential driving rules and techniques.

Enhanced Safety

Driving school cars typically come equipped with dual controls, allowing instructors to intervene if necessary. This provides a safety net for learners as they familiarize themselves with the road.

What Are Your Course Options?

Different schools offer varied programs. At Stop and Go, we have four in-car training packages tailored to the different needs of Arizona driving students.

Bronze Package

This package offers a 2-hour and 30-minute training session covering everything from parking and basic car control to freeway driving. Students are mentored one-on-one with a certified instructor. While Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) test waivers are not included, students receive a certificate of completion they can use to reduce insurance rates.

Silver Package

The Silver package includes two sessions of 2 hours and 30 minutes each. Like the Bronze package, it provides an insurance certificate and major classroom course discounts, plus a special $50.00 off our Alive@25® course.

Gold Package

The Gold level offers four lessons, each lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes. During the final driving lesson, students can take a road evaluation with one of our instructors and potentially bypass the MVD road test.

Platinum Package

This package offers 10 hours of driving and 6 hours of classroom instruction. During the final in-car lesson, students can take an evaluation to possibly waive the MVD road test. You can get your physical license the same day without ever testing at the MVD!

How Much Behind-the-Wheel Training Do You Need?

In Arizona, drivers with their learner’s permit need to accumulate at least 30 hours of behind-the-wheel driving practice before getting their license. However, when you choose to take lessons with an approved road test waiver course, you can use your lesson hours toward required hours. The state recognizes the value of formal instruction and allows those hours to count toward your required driving hours.

Remember, though, that every individual learns at their own pace. Some might feel ready with MVD’s minimum requirement of 30 hours behind the wheel, while most would benefit from driving at least 100 hours prior to licensing. It’s essential to strike a balance between meeting requirements and genuinely feeling prepared for your driving test and real life driving.
